Support Spirit of Shankly’s ‘Not a pound in the ground’ campaign at Anfield tomorrow

The Fulham Supporters’ Trust stands in solidarity with Spirit of Shankly, the Liverpool supporters’ union, as they launch their ‘not a pound in the ground’ campaign ahead of tomorrow’s fixture at Anfield following Liverpool Football Club’s decision to increase season ticket prices for the next three seasons.

As Spirit of Shankly said in a statement last month, Liverpool Football Club are leading the way in pricing out loyal fans for years to come – despite the club turning over a record £703 million. Like the Fulham Supporters’ Trust, Spirit of Shankly signed up to the FSA’s Stop Exploiting Loyalty campaign and petitioned their football club for a season ticket price freeze.

The Trust remain proud of our historical links with Spirit of Shankly, who were founded in 2008, including campaigning against Tom Hicks and George Gillett and poor policing of football fans as well as the fantastic Fans Supporting Foodbanks initiative, which began on Merseyside.

We ask all travelling fans to consider not spending money in the ground and instead support the local business owners, who could do with the cash. We also look forward to further campaigning with Spirit of Shankly on this important issue.
