Away day guide: Arsenal v Fulham
ARSENAL v FULHAM
Saturday 2 May, 5.30pm
The Emirates Stadium, London, N7 7AJ
TICKETING INFORMATION
All tickets for this evening’s fixture have sold out.
WHERE TO WATCH THE GAME
If you’ve been unable to secure a ticket to cheer on Marco Silva’s side at the Emirates, the match will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League within the United Kingdom. If you would like to watch the London derby with fellow Fulham fans, the Trust can recommend joining the Fulham family at Fulham Pier’s Riverside Market. No tickets are required but you will need to get there early in order to secure prime viewing position.
You may need to book ahead to secure a seat at several other pubs along the Fulham Palace Road, such as the Golden Lion, Distillers, the Duke of Cornwall and The Chancellors.
GETTING TO THE EMIRATES STADIUM
BY CAR
The Emirates Stadium was designed to be as accessible via public transport as possible. The Trust, therefore, discourages supporters who do not have protected characteristics from driving to the stadium this afternoon. Parking is extremely limited around the stadium and is only available to local residents and those supporters who have requested support in writing from either Arsenal Football Club or Fulham Football Club in advance.
BY TUBE, TRAIN AND BUS
The Emirates Stadium is served by five stations on matchdays.
Arsenal (on the Piccadilly Line) is the closest Underground station to the ground, around three minutes walk away, although away supporters may need to walk a little further if they wish to avoid the steps towards the away end. The station is inaccessible for wheelchair users or those supporters with protected characteristics on account of the steps and a sloping tunnel that takes passengers to street level.
Finsbury Park (on the Victoria, Piccadilly lines and served by Great Northern Rail, Thameslink services) is approximately fifteen minutes away on foot and served by lifts on the northbound and southbound platforms.
Highbury and Islington (on the Victoria Line and served by London Overground and Great Northern Rail services) is around fifteen minutes’ walk from the stadium. Supporters are advised that the station is only accessible for wheelchair users on the London Overground Line as only these platforms have lift access to street level. There remains no step free access on the Victoria Line.
Caledonian Road (on the Piccadilly Line) is about fifteen minutes’ walk from the stadium and is fully accessible for wheelchair users with two lifts.
Holloway Road (also on the Piccadilly Line) is at least an eight minute walk from the stadium and is not accessible for wheelchair users. It is also exit only both before and after Arsenal’s home fixtures – so Fulham fans wishing to use the station will need to arrive early and find another route home afterwards.
Kings Cross and St. Pancras International are the nearest main line rail stations that are fully accessible for wheelchair users. Whilst supporters are available to reach Arsenal, Finsbury Park and Highbury and Islington from both of these stations, the easiest accessible route from both Kings Cross and St. Pancras International would actually be a taxi, which is estimated to take around twenty minutes.
The nearest bus stops to the stadium are located on the Holloway Road, near the Nags Head, Seven Sisters Road, Blackstock Road and Highbury Corner. A number of buses serve the stadium, including the 271 (from Highgate Village to Liverpool Street Station), the 43 (from Friern Barnet to London Bridge Station), and the 19 (from Finsbury Park to Battersea Bridge).
Fulham fans should plain their departure carefully. Arsenal gets very crowded as many home supporters often leave before the end of the fixture, while queuing systems are always in operation at both Finsbury Park and Highbury and Islington.
Any supporters requiring assistance during their attendance at the Emirates Stadium on account of their protected characteristics should contact Arsenal Football Club on 0207 619 5000 and select Option 2. You will also find Arsenal’s outstanding Disability Liaison Team to be easily identifiable in purple bibs.
Any Fulham fans who require access to the Disability Supporters’ Lounge should note that the Lounge will be open to home and away fans as well as their personal assistants from 3.30pm this afternoon. The Lounge has a large screen television and provides free tea and coffee for all attendees. Arsenal Football Club does ask for a small donation towards their award-winning Arsenal Foundation to maintain this free support service for all those who require it. If you would be willing to make such a donation, you can do so here.
In addition, the Trust are immensely proud of the achievements of former Arsenal, Fulham and Lionesses legend Rachel Yankey. We supported the remarkable Rachel Yankey Foundation at a fundraising event organised by the Arsenal Women’s Supporters Club last month and are looking forward to presenting the Rachel Yankey Trophy to the Fulham FC Women’s player of the year at half time during the Club’s next Premier League home game at Craven Cottage on Saturday 9 May against AFC Bournemouth.
AWAY PUBS
We would like to remind all Fulham fans that The Drayton Park is no longer an away pub following a change of licensee and management.
The Twelve Pins (263 Seven Sisters Rd, Finsbury Park, N4 2DE), formerly known as The Finsbury Park Tavern and within walking distance of Finsbury Park station, has always welcomed home and away fans without trouble.
The Coronet (338-346 Holloway Rd, N7 6NJ) is the nearest Wetherspoons option, located further along the Holloway Road and about ten minutes’ walk from the stadium. Most other bar and pubs in the vicinity of the ground are home fans only.
The Trust would like to thank everyone at Arsenal Football Club, the Arsenal Foundation, the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust, the Arsenal Womens’ Supporters’ Club, the Metropolitan Police, the London Borough of Islington Council and the Football Supporters’ Association for their assistance in compiling this away day guide.
